Born in Erudin in a family of unimaginative commonfolk (or as close as there is to "commonfolk" in Erudite society), Velsor soon grew tired of his parents restrictive rules and the condescending attitude many of his brethren had towards him in his youth. During one of his forbidden walks through the Toxxulia forest, he was assulted by a hostile kobold. Unschooled in the ways of magic or combat, he was only able to save himself by an act of wit bore out by desperation and fear... he grabbed a nearby large spider and thrust it in to the face of the charging kobold. The panicked kobold stumbled back and fled, but his howling soon beckoned more kobolds. Then, out of the shadows stepped a dark knight who quickly dispatched the dogs. The knight took Velsor as his dark squire and taught him something of the real world with books that librarians catering to wizards in Erudin would not provide him, with stories and teachings that schools in Erudin's ivory towers would never utter.
One night, unbeknownest to Velsor, the knight had set up a challenge for Velsor, designed to bring out the deepest of his fears. While wandering Toxxulia, seeking out kobolds and other weak prey on which to practice his rudimentry combat skills, a troll charged out from the darkness and assaulting. Velsor had never even seen a troll until this day. But Velsor now knew some of the very basics of the arcane principles behind magic... and he knew something of the dark spiritualism practiced by the heretics... and he knew his fear. When the troll was upon him, Velsor took grip of his terror and subsconsciously applied his basic knowledge of magic, channeling his spiritual power and fear in an explosive burst as he laid hands on the troll. The troll screamed out in pain and fled.
His teacher stepped out from the shadows and handed him a glowing key of carved bone, telling him that he was now free to walk freely in Paineel and study there whenever he wished.
One day, Velsor's father found the key in his pack. Confronting him about it, he demanded to know what it was for, and attempted to invoke parental privledge to ground him. Velsor allowed his fears to course through him, his large fears, his small fears... his fear of being switched by his parents, his fear of being trapped in Erudin and left as an object of ridicule, never gaining any kind of respect, never seeing anything of the world other than the city's marble walls. Gripping his father, he unleashed these fears in another explosive Harm Touch. His father dropped slumped to the ground, either unconscious or dead. Velsor, not stopping to check, bent down to retrieve his key and left the city, making Paineel his home from then on.
He continued to train and study with the heretics of Paineel, fighting skirmishes against the kobolds who were a nuisance to all civilized society on Odus and running minor errands for Paineel's guilds, scholars and leaders.
As his own skill and power increased, he grew increasingly boring of these minor battles and errands. Having learned the ways of a dark kight, he now yearned to use them to explore his other interests, the interests he knew he would be unable to explore while shackled in Erudin by his parents. Longing to see the world's other continents, and to explore their cities, libraries, ruins and dungeons, Velsor soon realized that as great as his powers might become, he was unlikely to ever achieve them alone, and he knew that support from the knights of Paineel would grow thinner, the farther away from Odus he moved.
One day, a band of dark elves and an ogre moved through Paineel, stating their intention of raiding the kobold lair of the Warrens. Intrigued by the elves, and wishing to venture further in to the Warrens than his own skills had been able to take him in the past, he decided to join them for the raid.
Velsor was sufficiently impressed by the elves to know that they would make fine allies to aid in his own personal pursuits. The feeling must have been mutual, as they made him part of their guild and taught him the basics of their language.
Months later, Velsor had established himself as enough an asset of the Indigo Void to have been made an officer. His strength grew, and for a time, the strength of the Void grew with him. His journies took him in to the lizardman Temple to his lord Cazic-Thule, giving him a deeper understanding of his lord and his creations. Numerous other crypts and lairs had since been invaded by the Void, to Velsor's great satisfication at the time.
Eventually his power grew to the point that with the asistance of the Void and its allies, he was able to enter the alter planes and survive. First the Plante of Hate, dominion of Lord Innoruuk, and then the Plane of Fear itself, the home of his own lord, Cazic-Thule. Though the minions of these two dark gods were fierce by his reckoning, he could see that in time, he would grow beyond the power of the most feared immortal denizens of these planes.
On one trip to the Plane of Fear, Velsor noted the lack of presence of Cazic-Thule--he had been slain the earlier day by another group of adventurers. This struck an odd chord with the dark knight, and he was left wondering about the true power of his lord, and indeed, all of the gods.
While he contemplated this, the Void was weakening. The purpose of the Void was questioned from within, as were the means, and as is often the way of such things, egos and personalities clashed, with dire consequences for the organization as a whole.
It is during this struggle that Velsor decided to walk alone for a time, and seek the Dark Truth in a different manner. He became intrigued with the powers of the past that had managed to apparently overcome the power of the greatest of the gods to at least some degree. The Shissar, who had managed to open the way to the Greater Planes of Power, and the ogres and giants, who invaded planes, challenging the greater elemental gods in their own domain.
He also became intrigued with the so-called "un-god" Zebroxoruk, and he sought out the rare few who seemed to know something of this mysterious being. Though he could find none who worshipped this apparent un-god, they worshipped no others--yet unlike some who claim agnosticism, they did not delude themselves in thinking that the gods were mere myths.
Velsor's life had ever been about seeking the Dark Truth, and what truth could be darker and more meaningful than the existence of a god whose very being seems a carefully guarded secret. Growing more disillusioned, he questioned the worth of his previous quests and excursions. The Dark Truth must be about more than Fear, he realized.
He had been aware for some time that a way was discovered to enter more of the Planes of Power, but remained relatively uninterested, thinking they would yield very little insight into his current interest, but upon learning that the greater elemental planes had been breached once again by mortals, his interest quickly grew. The curse of the Rathe was weakening, and so too, perhaps, was the power of all of the gods. What did it mean?
Velsor had to know. Shaking off his disillusionment, he entered the Plane of Knowledge and began seeking answers. It was not long before he rumor lead him to the Plane of Justice, where with the assistance of two of his old companions, Izzuum and Vuxx, he found his way to the cell of a high elven prisoner who claimed he had been wrongfully imprisoned for learning something of the ungod Zebroxoruk. Velsor realized then that he was on the right track, and a step closer to the truth.
That truth has brought him a measure of disillusionment with his own god, and the zealotry that exists in the world in all forms. For this reason and others, he eventually made the decision to leave the Indigo Void, to either make his journey alone, or to accept new, stronger allies.
Now his quest continues, every day taking a step that moves him closer to learning the Dark Truth.
