Long, long time ago I had a Magelo profile for EQ (or was it EQ2?), and it was cool and made sense. Since WoW has the wowarmory site, Magelo seems redundant. It's 'prettier' than wowarmory, but is it all? Or it has some hidden useful function that I didn't discover yet?

People who play EQ and WoW can have all of their profiles in the same place. There are other channels in development as well so people who play a variety of games can have 1 central place for all of their profiles.

"It's 'prettier' than wowarmory, but is it all?"
For some people, that's enough. I had never heard of Magelo until last night and it was the visuals that drew me in.

Hi Este and welcome on board Kurobara !
Beside the points Inoke and Kubobara raised which are very good points there are also other benefits of having a Magelo profile over the default armory profile:
- It's fullscreen. May be it can be seen as an aesthetic feature but I believe when you communicate over your character to present who you are in the game, it's much more efficient, logical and pleasant to talk about you alone. If I click on an armory profile from a forum, I am interested to find more about this particular character and I end up in a complete website with sections. menu, etc...
- Everything is on one page, you never reload to access more information. With the armory profile, whenever you want to look at the reputation, the skills, the talents of a character, you have to reload the whole page, it's slow and not very convenient. It makes navigation between sections of the character profile very hard.
- Magelo profile can optionally display more information like your inventory bags and soon your bank bags. And even if you choose not to display your bags on your public profile, very soon, you will be able to access them once you are logged in Magelo. So you will be able to search for items through your characters out of the game, just like on the EverQuest channel.
- Magelo profile integrates a looking for a guild announcement. If you are looking for a guild, once you will have filled your LFG announcement ( Little bio about you, your average time play and your availaibility in the week) All the guilds which are looking for your class will be able to find and contact you and everyone who look at your profile will be able to see that you are LFG and view your announcement.
- Magelo profile provides items breakdown. When you look at someone else profile, it's not rare to be surprised by, for example, how much mana this character has and you just don't get it. Then usually, you have to go over all his items to understand how he is able to have that much mana. And it's not that simple because Items can be enhanced with enchantments and can have gems. In Magelo profile, we have a section dedicated to the items contribution to your stats called "Modifiers". When you go over it, you select the stat you are interested in, for example mana and then it displays all the items which contribute to increase your mana ordered from the greatest contributor to the smallest contributor. For each individual item, you can click on it to find more details about its contribution (Enchants and Gems) and at the very bottom of the section, you will have the total contribution from items for this stat. I find this feature very useful to help me understand other profiles and to find some potential upgrades more easily and faster than looking at an armory profile.
- Your Magelo profile is updated as much as you want and exactly when you decide to update it. One of the frustrations with the armory is you have no control or so little over when your profile will be updated and if you make a mistake, you will have to wait a few hours or even a whole day before you will be able to sync it again.
- Your Magelo profile reflects your character without any artificial temporary enhancement. That's another frustration of the armory, when it syncs your character, it will save all the buffs you have at the moment. So not only your stats will vary significantly from time to time as you don't always have the same buffs all the time but it makes comparison between armory profiles useless.
And obviously there are also a lot of benefits with the Magelo website as a whole over the armory...
I hope I gave you some answers

I would add the music on the profiles, the alternate profiles (when it's ready), the 3D model, and the missing informations from the armory.

Once, and I am not sure if they are doing this for WOW, Magelo will be the only place you can try on armor, and get a feel for what your stats will look like. With EQ even once they offered the EQPlayers page, which is equivalent to Wowarmory, Magelo was still the best resource out there for compiling a wish list of armor and items. I do hope they implement this option.
But I have to say that even in its current state, Magelo is head and shoulders above wowarmory for the fact it is so complete. And here is the big one, user updatability. My wowarmory page is so out of date it is crazy.

Actually, you can already do that at http://www.warcrafter.net/
But it's much cleaner and easier to navigate with Magelo.

Yea the biggest thign for me as a Druid and for anyone else who has collected gear for alt spec is the ability to link a profile for your
Feral DPS gear
Feral Tank Gear
Balnace Gear
Resto Gear
PvP Gear
etc..
Not just whatever the armory sync last caught you in. Once they get the multiple profiles feature in of course
