When we synched after the GL passed his title on to me, it updated.
I am not sure if you need premium or not for that to happen, because I had premium at the time, but I suspect not.
My only complaint, if there is any, is that old guild leaders who have retired and therefore haven't synched since the change, are still listed as 'guild leader' and there doesn't seem to be any way to edit their rank in the guild as they are on the same 'level' as the new guild leader.
