1. Evaluation of some enchants as being inappropriate to class is plainly incorrect or overly simplified, or just down to ignorance:-
blade ward is a tanking enchant - hit/crit is sub-optimal for otherwise hit-capped tanks
black magic is clearly a caster enchant especially suited to non-haste-capped casters such as, errr, arcane mages amongst others

2. Flagging gear as being 'low-level' eg 232 vs an average of 240-245 is a bit over-sensitive and leads to half of a character's gear being flagged in this way. This is generally unhelpful. Identifying the 2 or 3 key gear pieces that could be most easily or sensibly upgraded would be more helpful. Flagging 8-10 pieces is not particularly helpful.

3. The Gear upgrade lists are seriously flawed. I dont want to know every trinket with a gear score higher than what I have - I only want to know what the most effective upgrades would be - please dont show melee dps trinkets as upgrades on my tanking toons, or healing trinkets on my dps toons. Giving them a 'yellow' colour tag isnt really helpful, I just dont want to see em.

Welcome to Magelo and thank you for your post.

I am the lead developer of the Gear Planner. Let me address your points:

1. I am addressing the issue with enchants like Black Magic and they will be assigned to the appropriate archetype. As for Blade Ward, you are right that if you are over the hit cap the hit/crit enchant is sub optimal. We will address in some way, such as providing a tooltip to indicate it is sub optimal and probably lowering the overall gear score for the amount you go over the hit cap.

2. Flagging the gear indicates that it is an item need of attention and most likely, in the situation you describe the items of level 232 are being upgraded by 245 in the next raid difficulty. So it is sensible to show the items most in need of upgrade. We are looking into providing a better way to identity the most likely upgrades by defining some mechanism to show items that you would naturally obtain via raid progression.

3. Trinkets is something I'm working on. The items have spells that are not one of the regular stats so it is difficult to determine what the spell does programmatically without really digging into the inner workings of the World of Warcraft Spell system. This takes a lot of time and effort to handle ever possible spell blizzard has implemented. In essence we re-implement a lot of the game mechanics. But i'm glad to say this will be implemented soon and you won't see healer or dps trinkets on your tank. As for the color indicator, I believe it is useful for players that may not be maximum level and want to see all choices that might help. At lower levels you don't have as many upgrade choices and leveling is different than end game raiding. So we need consider everyone.

Remember this is a Beta and we are working out what works and what is useful to you and the community. If you have any questions or recommendations let us know. I hope I have answered your concerns.

Gear planner link finally starts to work but will not update. It just continues to process without actually getting anywhere only on the left side of the pop - up where it says get started (this part is to actually view available upgrades im assuming). It currently is lagging my pc so badly it delays me pulling up other online site and i can't play wow because i lag so bad it takes forever to move one step. Happy with what i've seen so far (yes i know its beta) but is it just me or is the application having issues?

Hi DTV418524,

Welcome to Magelo ! It looks like you were able to create a few alt profiles on your own.. Did you resolve the issue you had ?
