While I understand the complexity of the AA change, and I did not expect to have the Magelo upgraded in a day or two we're now looking at over two weeks.
It is getting a bit old when there is no information forthcoming from the Magelo people to keep checking and finding no joy.

Heyas Doehl = )
Darned if I can get quotes to work here. I didn't sign up at the wrong time though, I have been a paying member since 2003, I just haven't felt compelled to post when their response after a patch is reasonable. I really didn't mind the fee jump either, I liked the new java.
I also understand that magelo is not a utility, but I find it can't have it both ways. If this had 2 full time programmers on it doing 40 a week it would have been fixed a while ago, no help from SoE or no.
So obviously this is a hobby site, and as such it is very lucrative. I conservatively estimate 5,000 subscriptions and that's 125k a year gross. There are probably closer to twice that number of subscriptions.
If it's a hobby, take a hit to your margin and deliver a timely project by hiring more help or whatever you have to do, it will make them more money in the long run.
The lack of feedback, particularly after a missed deadline, on this 6 digit hobby is also distressing. Hobby or no it is a paid service and they is some obligation to their customers.

Here's a thought for everyone. How about Jelan and crew say to hell with it, give everyone a full year's subscription refund and then shut down Magelo? I'm sure they can do with the rest and actually get some sleep. Not like they ONLY work when they are doing updates, since I've been subscribing, they have done many things to keep Magelo not only up-to-date, but ahead of anything else available. Yes, their used to be many 'tools' for EQ available and now, several years later how many are still around? The older subscribers will know what I am talking about and the newer subscribers are benefiting from many years of trial and error. Reading all the previous Posts, I have to wonder if Magelo would be more appreciated if it reverted back to how it was implemented in the 1st years. I'm sure having to do everything manually would showcase how user friendly the current incarnation of Magelo really is and as far as waiting for an Update...is it really that much skin off our noses to let them spend many sleepless hours trying to figure out the logic SOE used to implement changes? I'm sure typing up Flame or questioning what they are doing takes significantly less time than reading through lines and lines of code to interpret and then implement. Jelan and crew could use some rest, I personally think they should refund us all, tell us thank you for subscribing and have a good life. But knowing Jelan, he will take the critiques, continue trying to work through EQ Patch after Patch and then read the boards to see what suggestions have merits for improving Magelo AND the site in order to plan future upgrades. How can I say that? Year after year he does it. Despite the Flames, Rants, name calling and everything else. I'd like to think he does because of the few Posts that thank him and crew for doing so ... thats a better thought than him doing it because of some Corporate sense of Customer Service. Let us know how things are coming Jelan, but certainly not at the expense of detracting from what you are doing and if you take a moment for yourself, know that you will always have loyal customers who appreciate you and the team's efforts.

Haha bitching about 2.00 dollar a month membership. okies magelo went down for 2 weeks. that is 1 dollar so including the next week that is another 1.50..hmm lets see what you can buy for that. a pack of gum, a cup of coffed, a donut, hmm quart of milk...wow lots of great stuff there. If you think i was flaming you then you are one of the whankers bitching about 1.50. Like it was mentioned before your comparison about paying for a service like isp, telephone, etc is a wrong anology. I still think u whankers bitching about 1.50 should be bitching to soe not here on Magelo. Or better yet get a premium account and use Eqplayers if you dissatiffied waiting. Magelo team don't give us a refund, just get us the great working product. i pay like all the others and don't care at all about the wait because 1.50 not going to put a dent in my economy. So here is a good advice to all you people crying about the 1.50 play the lottery hope you win. Then maybe you will be satisfied.
here also is some good reading as well, because i think most of you whankers forgot to read.

Good Post Xtrain
I've been a subscriber off and on, but the service that Magelo provides, over EQplayers, is far superior. Even if you never had a magelo before, it takes all of 15 minutes to set one up. Running an update every time you get an AA, or new piece of gear is just convenience. As Xtrain said, you pay 2 dollars a month, for a convenience that takes 15 minutes from scratch, and 30 seconds after you initially set up your first magelo. I really don't see the problem... especially if your magelo is only out of date by 3 weeks. Honestly, in the grand scheme of things, does it really matter? Your bitching about being able to go in and just click synchronize, when you can just use a few more keystrokes, and do it all yourself. Does EQplayers allow you to manually add gear? No, and even if you could, you would pay at least the 4.99 .... more then double what Magelo charges. Wait it out, they are making updates, bitch about world hunger, or how fat you've gotten just sitting there waiting to hit a synchronize button

Hi all,
please keep the following in mind:
What is not working in detail:
ONLY AUTOMATIC UPDATER... so Go ahead and update a lil few things manually.
Just keep in mind the following too:
- only a small number of magelo profilers are premium (I GUESS)
- Only these guys pay for it
- The other guys have it for FREE
- Our magelo guys have to pay for webhosting, taxes and so on
- magelo is not their main job ...
But another thing... I think all EQ-Players should be a community and behave like one...
And I like to point out one thing:
Who ever do not like, may go ahead and choose another game... she or he might expect same service from other commercials...
To magelo team:
Continue your work, it is a good one !!!
With best regards,
Ngarevok

While I too would like an update or an ETA... to be honest it doesn't really matter except to give us something else to complain about when it comes and goes... as a web forum admin and thats just the forums of our guild website... i easily spend 2 hours a day answering questions etc.
About the complaints over the cost... back when magelo was just a hobby site I am sure Jelan was spending all his free time from his day job to work on the site and to be honest their is less down time now after the website was rebuilt from basically scratch ( the longest downtime I remember since being a user) but the additions sony has been doing in the patches etc have been huge changes in the code... and the AA tree is whether it looks like it or not is a HUGE change... Sony basically tied in all the aa's to one continuous line where before they were totally separate tabbed by expansions. To all those people that say use the test server data codes are sadly mistaken in the accuracy of that encoding as may things never see the live servers and it is in "dirty" beta code which has a lot of things in it for the developers to tweek till it works... nothing is the same on the test server from week to week.
They are also working on some features that they have been before and making changes to those to match the patch changes as well. While I would not complain at all about a 2-3 week extension on my premium account I neither will expect it nor ask for it.
Seriously folks $25 a year is less than we pay for a magazine subscription that does not give us the pride that magelo allows us to have in displaying our characters, search the database for upgrades, or many other features liek item searches. To be honest on my $25 subscription I have 9 characters on 2 accounts... and just about everyone I know has far more than one toon per magelo subscription... Those claiming he makes 6 figures off this fan site need to realize is it not $25 per toon it is $25 for up to 3 EQ accounts holding up to 8 toons a peice and I have 9 toons myself, others I know have 3 accounts with 24 toons... His price is very reasonable, his product is good... I refuse to pay Sony $32 a year for EQplayers PER EQ account for an inferior product I can't even enjoy it as no unsubscribed user can see any info on my toons that I take a lot of pride in.
So honestly curb your frustrations and realize 1) this is a hobby that simply pays for it self and nets some honest cashflow for all the work put into it, not a full time job with multiple programmers that earn a realistic salary for their talents.. 2) this is not a full time job while it makes money it does not net the income that a Java/website desinger would make in a full time job at $75 + per hour, but looks cool on a resume. 3) Sony provides NOTHING to the magelo team, they have to figure it out themselves, which if any one out there has tried to work code will understand the difficulties in data streams your trying to code for. A data map would cut this down to just a few days not weeks...
So I am not trying to cut anyone down or anything just asking you to do a little math, and realize this is not a 6 figure income, it is a part time hobby business, and for a part time business I think we can all deal with a little downtime... expend your energies and frustrations on the source at Sony... gripe at them to prove data maps to Magelo, or complain about non working features or quests, or heaven forbid where they deserve it on EQplayers which has a great deal more inaccurate data than Magelo... I honestly would rather Jelan and crew to worry less about extending my subscription and dealing with that accounting database and more time working on the website to get us back up and running...
Anyhow... keep up the good work magelo crew... wish i could say work faster LOL but I understand programming and the difficulties it entails so I'll just wait patiently till your done.

Good idea. Think I'll let my re-subscription date slip past this next month. Afterall it is only $2 per month that they wont miss. I can get a cup of coffee or something at McDonalds & still use Magelo after that.
Good luck with the update & thanks for the uptime Magelo. I'll continue to use this good product(I just wont pay for it).
