A new version of Magelo Sync, compatible with Java 7, is now available.

The next time you will open Magelo Sync, it will automatically update.

If you have a previous version of Java installed on your computer, you need to update it in order to use Magelo Sync.

> First you need to remove previous Java installed on your computer.
In Control Panel for Windows, go to Add/Remove Programs (Programs and Features for Vista), scroll down to find and remove older versions of it.

> Then, you need to install Java 7.
Click here and download Java 7. If you have Windows 64-bit, then select Java 64-bit otherwise select Java 32-bit. Java is updated after the installation process is completed.

If you have any question, don't hesitate to post a comment in the Forum.

Any safer alternative ? As Java 7 is a security hole, can the Sync program be set back to Java 6 ?

Hi,

Java 7 is not a security hole by itself, it is the browser extension that let you run some java code inside your browser which is the problem. Normally, the code allowed to run in that sandbox is very restricted and cant really touch anything on your computer.

The security holes people are talking about is regarding that sandbox. So until Oracle come up with a hotfix adressing the latest ones (they did hotpatch just yesterday or so and since then one more issue are surfaced...) what you can do to protect yourself is to simply disable the browser integration.

In your favorite browser, either as an option or as an extension, you should have a component to enable/disable java. Magelo only use java for its client program that you donwload and install. It has nothing to do with browsers.

The only issue I can think of disabling java in the browser is that many banks still use it for the authentification so you might not be able to login into your online bank website anymore....
