I've been using Magelo Sync for awhile now, and up till today it's been working. I know that I recently updated Java, as 'javacheck' found a new update to apply. I do not know if I ran Magelo Sync since that point in time though, other than this morning and encountering the error in the subject, more details here:
No JVM could be found on your system.
Please define EXE4J_JAVA_HOME to point to an installed 64-bit JDK or JRE or download a JRE from www.java.com
I tried adding C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\ (with and without the trailing slash) to my System PATH variable, as well as defining a User Defined Variable called EXE4J_JAVA_HOME, none of these worked.
I've also uninstalled and reinstalled Magelo Sync to no avail.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Evertorn

Hello Everton,
We just released a new version of Magelo Sync compatible with Java 7, but it seems there is some sync issue when you are in Windows 7 64-bit with Java 7 64-bit. We are working on it.
In the meantime, if I am right, could you try to install the java 7 32-bit as well and try to launch MageloSync.exe and let us how it goes. I am interested to check if it would work in 32-bit and not in 64-bit.
Thanks in advance !

Hello, just tried re-installing Magelo Sync with a new download from the site, same error as my original post. I'll try to get the Java32bit test done this weekend.
Thanks,
Evertorn

I just completed uninstalling Java 64-bit (I believe) and installing Java 32-bit (which is recommend to be used with 32-bit browsers, which is what I am using). I still get the same error. I tried uninstalling Magelo Sync and Reinstalling, and get the same error.

If you are running Windows 64bit, you can actually install both Java7 32bit and 64bit, there is no need to uninstall the 64bit in order to have the 32bit working.
Could you please give us few more information?
- What is your current version of Windows?
- Go to "Control Panel" > "Programs - Uninstall a program" in your computer. You will see all installed program. Do you still see Java 6 ? Let me know the list of Java items you see.
Thank you

It's strange that Magelo Sync cant detect properly your installed Java7 but we can point it into the right direction. Let's create a system variable to help it figure out where to look.
Computer > System Properties > Advanced system properties > Environment Variables
Here, in the System Variables area, click the "New..." button.
Variable name: JAVA_HOME
(EXE4J_JAVA_HOME would work as well but JAVA_HOME is more generic)
Variable value: C:\Program Files\Java\jre7
(This should point to a valid Java7 install)
Then press "Ok" and start Magelo Sync, it should work now.
Let us know how it goes.

Hi loulina, that initially didn't work (I had 32-bit installed, so I modified your Variable value to the 32-bit location). So I downloaded and installed Java 64-bit (so that my system had 32 and 64 bit installed), fired up Magelo Sync (without making any system environment variable modifications) and Magelo Sync worked. Unfortunately, I don't know if the reinstallation of 64-bit java was the key, or having both 32-bit and 64-bit installed, though it appears the reinstallation of java 64-bit was probably it.
Thanks,
Evertorn

Indeed on Windows 64-bit the shortcut to Magelo Sync is the 64-bit version, so to make it work properly you need to have Java 7 64-bit installed. I am glad you figured out the issue and everything is working.

I had the same problem, apparently it is the fact that you have both 32-bit, and 64-bit of java installed that fixes it. Thanks for the help guys.

I can confirm this does work, install the 32 bit, then head over to other downloads and click on the offline 64 bit. Install that, not required to reboot and volla magelo sync pops up.
hope that helps, i had the same issue as everyone else.

Ok, I have tried the install 32, then 64. No Joy. Adding the Path, root, lib & bin. No Joy.
It now makes you uninstall the 32 bit as part of the 64 install. This program is exactly what we were looking for, I have 53 charaters, 11 of them are crafter, and about 20 are serious Ops / flashpoint PC's. I'd like to get it going if possible.
