The Magelo Server that handles requests from Magelo Update is having issues. After launching Magelo Update if you get a 'Connect to Magelo' window that says "An error occured (sic) when contacting the server," you're in the same boat with a lot of other people. Just close the window; no amount of typing is going to get you past the point.
Please be patient while a solution is sought.

Man I miss the updater, SoE cant get their crappy Eqplayers working but you guys have allways rocked. I suggested they hire you to help them out.

EDIT: Tried it again and it let me through this time. However I dont have any selection box for the character I wish to update. And even though its bold type on that character, and I click synchronize and text streams through the java console... it doesnt update the character.

Updater is opening now, yay! But now when you open it the character state doesn't change to the little red or blue icon. Instead it's a gray icon and says "Status Unknown - Magelo update is waiting for server information about this character." Doesn't change even if you close and restart it.

Cannot synchronize either. Gets the same result as described above (don't have any selection box for the character I wish to update. And even though its bold type on that character, and I click synchronize nothing happens)

Can't reply to your message that things are fixed.
My experience is that I can log on to the updater
- it sees my items correctly
- I can choose which character to up date
- BUT when I click the synchronize button
- 1. I get small text at the bottom of the updater box that says "Game content sent"
- 2. it does not give me back the usual box saying that I am synched
- 3. When I check my character profile I am NOT updated.
Clearly something is still amiss.
